In this class, I hope to learn about the various technological resources that are available to teachers. I hope to use these resources to enhance my abilities as both a student and an educator. In the future, I will integrate the technologies that I find to be the most useful in my classroom. Introducing technology in a classroom setting will be beneficial to both myself and my students to optimize their education and my ability to educate.
Technology has played a vital role throughout the entire course of my academic career. In elementary school, I had computer class on a weekly basis. In computer class, we were introduced to online programs that taught us how to type properly and efficiently. In middle school, Google Classroom began to become prevalent as a method for completing and turning in assignments. Also during the time I was in middle school, Promethean boards replaced projectors, further integrating technology into the day-to-day life of the classroom. We were also assigned personal Chromebooks to use during the school day and to take home to complete our homework assignments on. By high school, paper assignments became less common and many assignments were entirely digital. When Covid-19 caused school to shut down my junior year of high school, Zoom was utilized to replace standard in-person teaching.
One of my hobbies that I like to expand my knowledge on is cooking. In regards to cooking, my personal learning network consists of social media platforms such as Tik Tok, websites such as Food Network, and my family members. I use Tik Tok for recipe inspiration and to find new recipes to try. I browse the internet for detailed recipes to attempt. I call both of my parents if there is a recipe that they have made previously that I want to try to make myself.
I went through the same experience with technology in school, we had weekly computer classes in elementary school they were so much fun. Then in middle school Google Classroom became norm and Promethean boards where everywhere. It’s funny how similar our tech journeys were. I also use TikTok like you do, but more for knitting ideas and history content. It’s such a great place to find inspiration and learn new things. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie! I too remember when I was in elementary and we had our weekly computer lab class. I miss those fun and creative games that would teach us math and reading. It is very interesting to hear from your POV how Covid 19 impacted your education. When Covid hit, I was still in middle school in seventh grade. Also, I like your personal learning network; Tik Tok is a great way to find easy and new recipes, whether it’s for meal prep or for a sweet treat! Nice to get to know you!
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie! I love that you plan to use education from this class into your future classroom. Same for you! I like your reflection on how you've used technology in your educational career, and I can strongly relate to many aspects of that, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. You are very right when you explain the timeline of technology in the classroom. I feel as though we have had a very similar education experience in regard to technology, and I look forward to learning more about educational technology with you! Also, cooking is a very useful hobby to have!
